Helping those in need

Consulting on a communications and PR strategy, I helped to formulate and put in to place a communications plan for Bournemouth Foodbank. This included processes for website content, email newsletters, social media and task management

What I Did

I joined a small team of staff and volunteers responsible for the day-to-day management of the Foodbank, helping them to make use of their WordPress CMS. I also implemented Trello for managing the many, varied communications-related tasks – this included training team members, as well as overseeing the creation of tasks to reduce duplication.

Additional tasks included claiming and updating the Bournemouth Foodbank’s Google Business listing, advising on photography and shared resources, and migrating content from a previous CMS. This content included email subscribers that needed importing in to a newly-created Mailchimp account, before creating email templates to be used by Foodbank staff.

On an ongoing basis, I also oversee the Foodbank’s social media presence, scheduling content on the website’s blog and sharing this on social channels. I am currently responsible for creating and scheduling a monthly email newsletter, as well as managing the database of contacts.

Bournemouth Foodbank, providing nutritionally balanced emergency food, as well as support, to local people in crisis.
